Senior Athletics Day

On 26th October, Year 3 to Year 6 students all walked over to Howick College to compete in the Senior Athletics Day.  Everyone competed in the high jump, long jump, softball throw and sprints. At the end, everyone sat on the bank and watched the semi-finals and finals of the sprints.

Unfortunately, it rained at intervals during the day, so at times we had to huddle under the admin tent or the trees until the rain clouds passed, but this did not seem to dampen anyone's enthusiasm.

Mrs Bear was working on the 'Have A Go' high jump, so most photos are of that event.  Look on the CBS web page or FB page for more photos, or wait for the school end of year magazine.

Nathan A was jumping strongly . . .

. . . likewise Cooper (or Super Cooper as we call him in class).

Amber cleared the bar . . .

. . . as did Samuel.

Zia was getting ready to launch into the jump.

Travis lifted his leading leg up high to clear the bar.

Water Safety at Lloyd Elsmore

Everyone had a go at wearing a life jacket and jumping into the deep end of the pool to see what it might be like if we jumped overboard of a boat at sea.

We floated  on our backs with the life jacket making a little pillow to keep our heads free of the water.  then we gathered together in a circle to stay safe and warm in the water.

We would like to  thank Natania's Mum who was our life saver for this activity.

Kayaking at Lloyd Elsmore

When it was out turn on the kayaks, we learned the safe way to enter and exit a kayak.  After we had a few turns at getting in and out, we had a go at an eskimo roll.  When we were underwater, we had to tap on the side of the kayak to signal we wanted to come up again.

We would especially like to thank all the Dads who braved the cold water to help us learn to kayak.

Snorkelling at Lloyd Elsmore

When we went to Lloyd Elsmore, each group had a go at snorkelling, kayaking and learning about boat safety.

CBS Olympics

We made olive wreaths from green paper leaves, ready for the CBS Ancient Olympics.
Let the CBS Ancient Olympics begin!
We acted out different Olympic disciplines with Mrs Bell in Drama:
some people swam, some rode horses, some ran and jumped.

CBS Cross Country 2016

Ready to race!

On Thursday, the whole school walked to Howick College to run the cross country.  We ran in year groups, divided into girls and boys.  Everyone completed the run in their best personal time.  Bianca and Samuel were placed in the Year 3 girls and the Year 3 boys respectively.

And the Year 3 girls are off . . .
Bianca led down the first straight and was one of the first girls to finish.

. . . And then the boys are off!

Samuel was placed first in the Year 3 Boys Cross County.
Bianca was placed in the Year 3 Girls Cross Country.
